Welcome to the Earth Probiotic blog.

We write these articles, tips and opinions ourselves. But sometimes we link to other sites or opinions. Please don’t shout at them for how we’ve used their insights, news and opinions.

Having said that, we welcome your comments and opinions. If you don’t like what we’ve said please comment and state your case (we’ll probably learn something). Just don’t be rude or personal to us or anyone else that’s engaged in the discussion.

The “Earth Probiotic Muse” is our collection of news and insights from around the web that we find interesting. So please check it out.

Compost Magic

Compost is not only a soil benefit it is crucial to building a better environment.

Mozambique Installation

Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort in Mozambique have installed Earth Probiotic’s Earth Cycler food waste composter and biochar Earth Kiln retort. All food waste will be composted and fed back to soil. The biochar retort will process palm tree waste into biochar. The palm tree waste is currently a fire hazard and, due to its fibrous nature, extremely difficult to compost directly.

Making biochar in a retort system is a carbon negative process. Volatile gases re-burn to heat the retort. Biochar is a means of capturing and storing carbon in the soil (where it can lasts for decades if not centuries). In soil, biochar acts as a sponge to hold nutrients, microbes and water.

You can find out more about biochar at the International Biochar Initiative.
